Big Bend Conservation Alliance Clarifies Non-Involvement in Redford Land Dispute

Presidio County, Texas — The Big Bend Conservation Alliance (BBCA) is issuing the following statement to clarify its position regarding recent public comments connecting the organization to a private land dispute in Redford, Texas.

BBCA has no ownership interest, legal involvement, or operational role in the property currently at the center of a dispute between People of La Junta for Preservation (PLJP) and Charlie Angell. The matter is a private land dispute and is being addressed through the appropriate legal channels between those parties.

Any suggestion that BBCA is connected to, financing, or influencing this dispute is incorrect.

BBCA and People of La Junta for Preservation are separate nonprofit organizations. Like many organizations working in rural communities, they have occasionally collaborated on conservation and cultural heritage initiatives in the region. However, BBCA is not a party to the Redford property matter and has no operational or financial involvement with the land in question.

Allegations that BBCA is collaborating through a Santa Fe entity is inaccurate. BBCA has previously worked with MASS Design Group, a design and research firm based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in connection to the Cementerio del Barrio de los Lipanes preservation project.

Beyond that engagement, BBCA does not maintain other partnerships or operational relationships with any Santa Fe–based organizations related to this matter.

Big Bend Conservation Alliance remains focused on its mission to support conservation, community stewardship, and responsible land and water management throughout the Big Bend region.

The organization respectfully asks that ongoing legal matters between private parties be allowed to proceed through the courts without the unnecessary involvement of organizations that are not connected to the dispute.
