As part of the “Everything’s Connected in Presidio” EPA-funded community engagement initiative, the Big Bend Conservation Alliance is seeking to hire six Neighborhood Coordinators. The city of Presidio will be divided into 6 neighborhood areas, including colonias. Each neighborhood will have a dedicated Neighborhood Coordinator, a local resident who will lead participation efforts, strengthen communication, and build trust between community members and the project team. Neighborhood Coordinators will serve as the primary contact for the residents in their neighborhood, organize and facilitate community meetings and outreach activities, gather feedback, and coordinate volunteers. Neighborhood Coordinators must be a resident of the neighborhood/colonia they represent. This is a grant-funded position under the EPA program. Coordinators will serve throughout the duration of the project and will receive training, support, and compensation for their work.
Neighborhood Coordinator
Overview:

Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for residents in your neighborhood/colonia.
Organize and facilitate community meetings, listening sessions, and outreach activities.
Gather feedback and input from residents to inform project planning and implementation.
Coordinate volunteer participation and encourage local involvement in EPA-funded activities.
Use technology tools (such as email, text reminders, virtual meetings, and basic reporting platforms) to communicate with residents and project staff.
Report regularly on neighborhood concerns, opportunities, and progress to the project team.
Work closely with other Neighborhood Coordinators to ensure citywide collaboration.
Uphold transparency, cultural sensitivity, and inclusivity in all engagement efforts.
Qualifications:
Must be a resident of the neighborhood/colonia you represent.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Commitment to environmental justice and community health.
Ability to use technology to support communication and reporting (e.g., email, text, video calls, and data entry).
Ability to organize meetings, track participation, and share updates clearly.
Previous community engagement, outreach, or advocacy experience preferred but not required.
