Tree Host Agreement

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This Agreement is part of Big Bend Conservation Alliance’s (BBCA) EPA-funded initiative, Everything’s Connected in Presidio, which supports environmental justice and climate resilience in Far West Texas through the planting of native and regionally appropriate trees. Trees are provided with soil amendments and slow-drip irrigation tools (e.g., Tree IVs) to promote deep root growth and reduce long-term water needs.

To maximize climate and community impact, all trees must be planted in a location fully visible from the public right-of-way (typically the front yard), contributing to neighborhood and city beautification, shade equity, and air quality improvements.

HOST RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of this agreement, the Host agrees to:

  • Water the tree regularly following BBCA’s care schedule;

  • Ensure the Tree remains fully visible from the right-of-way and is not obstructed;

  • Allow BBCA representatives (such as tree captains, students, and project partners) access to inspect the tree;

  • Notify BBCA if the tree appears distressed, diseased, or damaged;

  • Collaborate care for and protect the tree from intentional harm, removal, or neglect.

BBCA SUPPORT

BBCA will:

  • Plant the tree using soil amendments and provide a Tree IV for watering;

  • Provide written care instructions and watering schedules;

  • Issue an annual $20 watering stipend in the form of a gift card;

  • Offer periodic check-ins to support tree health.

TERM AND OWNERSHIP

This Agreement is effective until December 31, 2027. The tree remains the property of BBCA until that date, at which point full ownership and responsibility for the tree transfers to the Host. The Agreement may not be terminated early. Hosts wishing to opt out before the end of the term may do so only by reimbursing BBCA $900 to cover the cost of the tree and associated materials.

Este acuerdo es parte de la iniciativa financiada por la EPA, Todo Está Conectado en Presidio, que apoya la justicia ambiental y la resiliencia climática en el oeste de Texas a través de la plantación de árboles nativos y regionales. RESPONSABILIDADES DEL ANFITRIÓN

Como parte de este acuerdo, el Anfitrión se compromete a:

  • Regar el árbol regularmente siguiendo el programa de cuidado de BBCA;

  • Asegurarse de que el árbol permanezca completamente visible desde el paso público y no esté obstruido;

  • Permitir que los representantes de BBCA (capitanes de árboles, estudiantes y socios del proyecto) accedan para inspeccionar el árbol;

  • Notificar a BBCA si el árbol parece angustiado, enfermo o dañado;

  • Colaborar en el cuidado y proteger el árbol de daños intencionales, eliminación o negligencia.



APOYO DE BBCA

BBCA:

  • Plantará el árbol usando enmiendas y proporcionará un “Tree IV” para regar;

  • Proporcionará instrucciones de cuidado por escrito y horarios de riego;

  • Emitirá un estipendio anual de riego de $20 en forma de tarjeta de regalo;

  • Ofrecerá chequeos periódicos para apoyar la salud de los árboles.


PLAZO Y TITULARIDAD

Este Acuerdo es efectivo hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2027. El árbol sigue siendo propiedad de BBCA hasta esa fecha, momento en el que la plena propiedad y responsabilidad del árbol se transfiere al anfitrión. El Acuerdo no podrá ser rescindido anticipadamente. Los anfitriones que deseen optar por no participar antes del final del plazo pueden hacerlo solo reembolsando a BBCA $900 para cubrir el costo del árbol y los materiales asociados.
